A downloadable tool for Windows
This is a tool that uses the same frequency ratios of musical notes in order to obtain a collection of harmonious colors. It generates a simple abstract image of squares, circles or triangles, and applies colors randomly. However the intensity of red, blue and green are distributed across an "octave" and will, according to my hypothesis, form a harmonious blend that will be pleasing to the eye, in the same way musical notes are pleasing to the ear.
This project began as an offshoot of my procedural games Star Explorers and Anomalies. After making music generation tools for both those games, I began to wonder whether the pleasing frequencies produced by musical notes could also be applied to color.
If anyone is interested in this project, how I calculate the ratios, or has any questions or suggestions, please feel free to reach out. It is a very open ended idea, and it could go in a multitude of different directions ... or stay as it is.
